Closure Phase Statics Correction

چکیده

The closure phase principle was used in estimating static shifts in seismic data. In areas with complex topography, the static shifts usually caused by lateral variations in sediment thickness and/or velocity of the near-surface layers will distort the continuity of seismic events. More seriously, it introduces false structural anomalies. In this report, we develop a new statics correction method which does not require estimation of the near-surface velocity model and is based on the closure phase principle. The closure phase principle is used by interferometric astronomers to mitigate the distorting effects of the atmosphere on their stellar images. Tests with synthetic data for the SEG/EAGE overthrust model and land data were conducted and preliminary results demonstrate that this approach can noticeably improve the quality of the stacked section compared with the plus and minus statics method.

Stationary states of a spherical Minority Game with ergodicity breaking

Using generating functional and replica techniques, respectively, we study the dynamics and statics of a spherical Minority Game (MG), which in contrast with a spherical MG previously presented in [1] displays a phase with broken ergodicity and dependence of the macroscopic stationary state on initial conditions. The model thus bears more similarity with the original MG. Still, all order parame...

Statistical Mechanics of Dilute Batch Minority Games with Random External Information

We study the dynamics and statics of a dilute batch minority game with random external information. We focus on the case in which the number of connections per agent is infinite in the thermodynamic limit. The dynamical scenario of ergodicity breaking in this model is different from the phase transition in the standard minority game and is characterised by the onset of long-term memory at finit...

Incomplete preferences, complementarity and non-convexity

This paper extends to incomplete preferences the formulation of strategic complementarity in Milgrom and Shannon (1994). It is shown, by example, that quasi-supermodularity and single-crossing no longer su¢ce to guarantee monotone comparative statics with incomplete preferences. However, when incomplete preferences satisfy monotone closure in addition to quasi-supermodularity and single-crossin...

Raypath-dependent statics

The region of the earth which usually has the greatest effect on the quality of seismic reflection data is that between the surface and the first competent “bedrock” interface, which can occur at a depth of anywhere from zero to a few hundred metres. When the material in this region is much softer than the rocks beneath the bedrock boundary, seismic reflection energy travels along near-vertical...
